Three Ways To Improve The Marketing Of Your Law Offices

As an attorney, you have years of experience and training when it comes to handling cases and working with clients. But when faced with the challenge of actually marketing your services, you may draw a blank. You don't really learn about marketing in law school, and while you could just hire a marketing consultant to do it all for you, it's still important to know the basics so you can verify that they are on the right track and doing good work for you.

Luckily, you don't have to get a marketing degree in order to better market your legal services. Here are three ways to improve your marketing and learn more about this field.

Attend Webinars

There are many webinars on most any topic you can imagine, and legal marketing is no exception. Sometimes there is a small fee to attend these webinars, and other times, they are free to attend. Generally, you log in using Skype or another video chat service, and watch and listen as experts in the field discuss the ins and outs of legal marketing. You may find some lower-level webinars that focus on basic marketing strategies as well as more advanced ones where the presenters discuss specific marketing topics, such as how to advertise on social media and how to get more referrals from past clients.

Webinars are great because you don't have to leave your office to attend them. If you're part way through one you don't find helpful, you can always "leave" without offending anyone.

Talk To Your Peers

Lawyers don't always talk about marketing just because they don't find it that inherently interesting in comparison to the more legal-focused aspects of the industry. But that does not mean your peers don't know some marketing tips that you have yet to learn. The next time you're mingling with other attorneys, bring up the topic of marketing, and see what everyone else has to say. Learning what has worked for others can help you figure out what will work for your business.

Take a Class or Two

If you learn best in a formal setting, consider just taking a class or two in basic marketing at a local community college. You can apply the principles you learn in most any setting, including your law office. Plus, while you're in the class, you'll have the professor available as a resource and can ask them any more in-depth marketing questions you may have.
